Are you thinking about joining
the 3-day diet? Reviews are hard to come by, but I'll share my honest opinion
on the program. The 3-day diet is a very low-calorie diet that says you will
lose between 3 and 10 pounds (depending on the author) in just 3 days. Here are
my 3-day diet reports.
First, I start my three-day
nutritional evaluation with good points.
The diet is very low in calories.
Some versions of the diet contain half a grapefruit with each meal, which means
that the diet contains 900 calories. Others offer it with just one meal,
reducing the diet to 750 calories. Obviously, these calorie scores are not
sustainable, but remember that this is just a 3-day diet. You can fast so long,
so it does not hurt you to eat something to keep you going.
The second positive thing that I
will mention in my three-day nutrition reports is that no fancy cooking is
needed to sustain this diet. If you can cook an egg and cook vegetables in the
microwave, you can follow this diet. The food you need is staple: cottage cheese,
savory biscuits, carrots, apples, etc.
The third beauty of this diet is
that the food that you are asked to do in no way harms you. They will eat
fruits, vegetables, lean meat, etc. In many ways, you are better off with this
program than if you were eating a few meals at a fast food place. There is no
"trick" in the 3-day diet, it is very low in calories.
But there are some disadvantages
to the diet. For example, you may only lose a few pounds for all your hunger,
not the 10 pounds that some proponents claim.
I would also not mention that
prolonged use of this diet program would certainly lead to anorexia. The name
of the diet is, for a reason, "the 3-day diet" - it should only be
used for three days.
Another thing worth mentioning in
these 3-day diet tests is that you are probably hungry on this program. The
meals are quite small. Breakfast and lunch are about 200 calories each and
dinner is about 350 calories. If you are used to 2,000 to 3,000 calories (which
most Americans eat), you will be starving. If you can absorb it and say,
"It's only 3 days," you will survive. But unless you are mentally
prepared for the hunger problems of the 3-day diet, you will probably give in
to your urge to eat more.
In short, the 3-day diet works.
You will probably be lost between 3 to 6 pounds. The 10-pound claims come from
very large people trying it. Most lost pounds will come from water weight. You
can no longer go on a diet.
If you want to lose weight for a
specific purpose in the near future (a wedding next weekend, an upcoming class
reunion), it's worth doing so. It will not work as an extended diet plan.
